Welcome to Music in 2019!

Welcome to Music for 2019 at St Bernardine's!

I trust everyone had a wonderful holiday break and has come back feeling refreshed and ready to begin a brand new year. A special welcome to our new families joining our school community.

This year will be another busy one for Music and the Arts. Classroom Music lessons will commence from Week 2, and our Choir and Instrumental Music rehearsals/lessons will start soon after. More information to come!

Throughout the year, I will actively updating the Music Twitter again with photos and lesson fun to share with our community, as well as this blog. So please feel free to follow along and watch the music magic happen! ( Twitter: @MissDaviesMusic )

Parents are welcome to contact me at any time through email or via the school office.

Merry Christmas!

I can't believe we have come to the end of another year.

2018 has been an excellent one for Music - classroom music lessons have been full of lots of learning and fun; our 90+ student-strong Choir rehearsing hard each week and receiving a Silver award at the QLD Catholic Schools Music Festival; the Instrumental Music program flourishing with a growing number of instruments and students involved; our Talent Quest which showcased some exceptional St B's talent... just to name a few things!

Thank you to all the wonderful staff for their support of the Music program at St Bernardine's. Also, thank you to the parents for assisting in their child's engagement in this subject/passion. But most importantly - thank you to the STUDENTS for being eager to grow in their musical knowledge!

I wish all our St Bernardine's families and friends a safe and happy festive season. I look forward to seeing and singing with you all in 2019!

Yours in music,
Miss Davies

Instrumental Music - Term 4 Showcase

Congratulations to all our Instrumental Music students who took to the stage on Friday 30 November. The students, along with Mr Smith and Miss Chalmers from Creative Kidz performed for our school community and showcased all the hard work they've been doing this year! We also had some featured vocalists join our guitar students for one song, which sounded fantastic!

The students seemed to thoroughly enjoy their time up on the stage and should be congratulated on their effort.

If you have a child who is keen to join our instrumental program, be sure to pick up an enrolment form from the office and/or check out the Creative Kidz website: http://www.creativekidz.com.au

Here are some photos from the concert for you to enjoy! Thank you to Mr Smith and Miss Chalmers for all your hard work with our students this year.

Choir folders returned

As it comes to the end of another year, it is time for Choir students to return their choir folders to the school!

Choir students receive a black folder with the St Bernardine's sticker on it at the start of the year to put all their very important music into. We hope to re-use these folders year by year, so if your child still has their folder in tact, could you please have them return it to school asap.

Please ensure the music is removed from the folder prior to returning it! They are welcome to keep the music/lyrics for themselves.

Thank you for your assistance!

Choir Performance - 31 October 2018

On Wednesday 31 October, our combined Piccolo and Grande Choir performed on assembly! They sang the song 'You've Got A Friend' by the wonderful singer/songwriter Carole King.

Thank you to all the amazing teachers that have helped the choir learn this beautiful song - Mrs Staier, Miss Delaney and Mrs Telford.

You can watch their fantastic performance here. I was a very proud Music teacher!
