Welcome to Music 2014!

Welcome to Music 2014!

I hope everyone had a safe, happy and well-deserved festive season. Can you believe we are ready to begin another year?!

A special welcome to all the new students and families in Prep and various year levels who are joining the St Bernardine's community this year. I am looking forward to seeing all your smiling faces and sharing the joy of Music with you.

This blog will keep you informed of events, excursions and news from the Music/Arts department. Please leave comments on the posts to stay in touch!

Music Lessons for each class begin in Week 2. For all students in Year 2 - 7, it is important they have the correct equipment to be able to fully participate in their music development. These students require:

- large pencil case
- Music exercise book
- pencil (x2)
- rubber

Students in Year 4 - 7 also require their own recorder. Please ensure students have this equipment to begin the year in Music.

Students in Year 4 - 7 are invited to join our school Choir. The Choir rehearses every Tuesday morning at 8am in the Music room. It is expected that there is 100% attendance to these rehearsals, as we begin preparations for in-school and out-of-school performances and festivals. The first Choir rehearsal is yet to be confirmed... So please watch this space!

Students in Year 4 - 7 are encouraged to join our Instrumental Program and the School Band. Lessons on the various instruments are run by Mr Saunders from Creative Kidz. On Friday 31st Januray, students will be given a special instrument demonstration in Siena Hall. If you are interested in your child participating in our Instrumental Music Program (run through Creative Kidz), please pop into the office to receive the necessary forms and information.

To follow what is happening in the Music Room on a day-to-day basis, please 'follow' the Music Twitter account!

Parents, if you wish to contact me, please don't hesitate to send me an email at or phone the school office, and I will endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible.

Keep smiling and singing!

Miss Davies
